We’ve gone old school and literally pulled the name out of a bobble hat (just as it’s starting to feel positively winter-like) to draw our competition winner with the fabulous Hook Box Company.

And the lucky winner Caroline Smalley from Cleckheaton was delighted when we told her she’d won a Bride-to-be gift.

Hook Box Co offer handpicked gifts which will enable them to plan their wedding day to perfection.

And if you fancy spoiling yourself and want something more interesting to pop through your letter box you can check out how to order your own box here.

So after announcing to Caroline that she was our winner, we also asked her to give us an insight into her own wedding plans.

How did you and your fiance meet?

My fiancé Gavin and I met when we were both training as professional dancers at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds.  We were in different year groups and first met when we went to a pub with mutual friends; he won me over by sharing his cheesy chips with me!

Where and when did you get engaged? Was it a surprise or was it something you’d discussed?

We have been together a very long time and have discussed marriage over the years, however once we got close to our *cough 20 year anniversary, we decided that perhaps we might like to finally get married.

Gav surprised me by choosing the ring, date and venue of the proposal.

On the 6th May this year he took me to our favourite gluten free restaurant, Oxford Place in Leeds.  Knowing that I don’t like too much attention, he waited until all the other diners had left, but when he finally got down on one knee, he had to ask me twice because I was in so much shock (as well as a bit tipsy)!

When is the big day?

We are getting married on Saturday 1st September 2018 at Weetwood Hall, Leeds.  As professional dancers with separate careers, between us we have lived and worked in many different counties and cities, but finally settled again in West Yorkshire.  Because we met and fell in love in Leeds, we thought that it would be most fitting to get married there.

How’s the wedding planning going?

In terms of the wedding planning, we have the date, venue and a rough wedding guest list. Gavin has coeliac disease, as do quite a few members of the family, so the venue are catering for a completely gluten free wedding.  I have recently come across a fantastic 100% gluten free bakery, Wildcraft Bakery, Leeds, who are going to make our wedding cake.  We are really excited about going to the tasting session next month, as the lovely lady at the bakery said that she will create pretty much anything we want in terms of flavour and design!

If you’re a wedding supplier and would like to run a competition for one of our lucky brides, we’d love to hear from you. You can submit your details here.
