Real Yorkshire Wedding: Blenheim Manor

Real Yorkshire Wedding: Hayley and Darren

Leeds couple Hayley and Darren met in a drunken haze on a night out in Leeds but still managed to make good impressions on each other, with Darren even getting in touch the very next day!
They got engaged on Christmas Day 2015, with Darren’s daughter Faye donning a t-shirt asking Hayley the all important question!

After months of planning the happy couple tied the knot before 70 friends and family on Saturday 13th May at St Peter’s Church in Morley. They continued the celebration at Blenheim Manor House with an additional 100 guests for the evening reception.

Here’s what Hayley had to say about their big day:

Not everything went to plan, however I married my best friend and to me really that’s all that matters. “

We looked at three venues, the Holiday Inn Tong, Holiday Inn Garforth and Blenheim Manor, Batley which we settled upon for our reception.

The Planning

I found wedding planning relatively straightforward and managed to book the most important things upfront, like our photographer, venue, church etc. I searched on the internet and looked for reviews and recommendations and also I added myself to a lot of the wedding Facebook groups to get advice from other brides to be. I didn’t use a wedding planner but we used Leeds-based Bridezillas with on-the-day styling.

The Dress
I had a strong idea of the style of dress I wanted but struggled to find anything that lived up to my vision in the beginning.  I love sparkle but I didn’t want to look ‘blinged up’ but after visiting about a dozen bridal shops I found my dress. It has just the right amount of detail with the pearls and felt elegant without being too much.

On The Day
It was a very busy morning. I was with my bridesmaid, two flower girls (one of which is my daughter), my three nephews, my uncle, my two friends Vicki and Sammi, and my mum and my dad! I was very nervous and emotional but due to the amount of children present in the morning, they kept us on our toes! Our wedding day was memorable! In a good way.  There were a few things that we didn’t expect including being called a different name in church!

Words of Wisdom
My advice would be make sure you take five minutes to sit down and just look around you and take it all in. Take your husband/wife into a room and just give yourself both two mins away from the crowd. The day really does go so fast like they say. Make sure you make the day about you too and no-one else!

Do  a lot of research for your photographer and videographer. Don’t look for the cheapest as you really are paying for what you get.  Your photos and videos will become the most treasured memories of your special day.

I would highly recommend our photographer Lee MacDonald. He captured the emotion of our day beautifully and was absolutely amazing on the day. Our videographers 2 Little Ducks were quite simply ‘Out of this world. Totally beyond my expectations’.
