As Christmas and New Year are key times for engagements, it got us wondering how many future brides will be hoping for a three-stone engagement ring like Meghan Markles’.
And if online jewellery retailer Jewlr.com is to be believed, their launch of a Meghan Markle replica ring has been met to wild response.
Designed within hours of the the royal engagement announcement, the online retailer has revealed that ‘The Duchess‘ has quickly become its best-selling engagement ring style since it went live on Monday evening.
Jewlr’s high-tech production methods, that include sophisticated 3D modeling and printing technology, allow the company to recreate trends in record time. ‘The Duchess’ was launched almost immediately following the release of royal press images of the couple, and is outselling other ring styles by 15%.
Furthermore they claim all three-stone rings on Jewlr.com have also risen by 220%.
Romantic Prince Harry designed the ring himself, using diamonds which belonged to his mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
The two outside stones came from the late princess’ personal collection and are a poignant tribute to Diana in the year of the 20th anniversary of her death.
At the centre of the ring is a large diamond from Botswana, a country that holds special significance for Harry, who has visited many times since he was a child.
Prince Harry is following the lead of his brother Prince William, who gave Kate Middleton the 18-carat sapphire and diamond ring that once belonged to his mother. That ring reportedly cost £28,000.
But it’s possible to get a ring that looks just like Meghan’s for a fraction of the price.
Argos’ revere 18ct gold plated silver 1.5ct look 3 stone ring costs just £32.99.
The sparkler, which is only available in store at the high street shop, also has the three stone design but instead of diamonds you get cubic zirconia.
