One of the most common traditions at weddings is the couple’s first dance.
Whether it’s to a meaningful song to the couple or to a chart topper, the first dance is a popular way for newly married couples to connect and celebrate their special day.
It is also a great opportunity to impress friends and family with an amazing routine to be remembered, which is why couples are paying for dance lessons more and more.
The choreographed first dance has become a must for nearly-wed couples, with even celebrities choosing to entertain their guests with a perfectly performed routine. For example, Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright performed their version of a Dirty Dancing routine.
Tristan Dance Studios, based in Huddersfield, are offering multiple wedding dance packages with private lessons to create a routine to suit the style and capabilities of the bride and groom. This is one of only two dance studios in Huddersfield offering wedding dance lessons. The studio has always offered couples private lessons, but these packages offer so much more.
The wedding packages, which range from five to ten hours of lessons, were devised to work out how long a couple needs to learn the perfect first dance, from covering the basic steps, timing, hold and posture in the first lesson, through to polishing a new custom routine in the last.
In 2017, the studio helped 24 couples perform the perfect dance for their wedding day, taking in to consideration the brides outfit choice – from heels to rhinestone trainers!
The dances are choreographed using movements from the rumba, bossa nova, waltz and cha-cha, creating a beautiful show dance that a couple can perform in style to a song of their choice. From choreographing to popular songs like Perfect by Ed Sheeran, to more unusual choices like Smooth Criminal, Tristan Dance Studios can create a first dance to remember.
Miriam Helen Biran, a former client at the studio, said:
‘Emma choreographed a dance routine for our wedding and it was fab from start to finish. We had such a laugh learning the routine & my husband got really into it even though he’s never had dance lessons in his life! Everyone loved it on the day & still talk about it now. If I could do it all again I would!’
The studio offers a range of price packages from £175.
And for those who’ve left it a bit late they offer last minute one off private lessons at £40 per hour.
