Brides and grooms are going to great lengths to keep the little ones entertained at weddings according to a top Yorkshire wedding venue Oulton Hall.
Yet only a generation ago the very idea of inviting children to weddings was considered rare and they were ushered off to family or friends for the duration of the nuptials.
A recent OnePoll survey* found 46 per cent of people feel children shouldn’t be present at wedding parties, of which 19 per cent are not keen on children attending weddings at all!
But Grade II Listed Oulton Hall near Leeds appears to be bucking the trend for child-free weddings and has seen an increase in couples’ going the extra mile to ensure younger guests are entertained.
Caroline Smith, wedding coordinator at Oulton Hall, said: “We’ve seen a shift in weddings in 2018, they’ve had a much more family feel compared to previous years. The preference for adult only weddings seems to have eased and we’re seeing couples go all out to not just accommodate, but to really entertain young guests.
“The little ones are also being given starring roles, following in the footsteps of Prince George and Princess Charlotte. It’s meant that wedding guests are paying just as much attention to the children’s outfits as they are the brides!”
Brides and grooms are going to great lengths to keep the little ones entertained by hiring bouncy castles, inflatable obstacle courses and oversized garden games.
Oulton Hall is set in stunning landscaped gardens and has an abundance of outdoor space to ensure couples can accommodate children are at the heart of their wedding celebrations.
