Weddings by there nature are awash with tradition.
So when it comes to the second royal wedding of the year planned for October when Princess Eugenie marries her long-term partner Jack Brooksbank, we are expecting some century old rules to be followed.
But it would appear, Eugenie, the Queen’s granddaughter, who became engaged to Mr Brooksbank, in Nicaragua in January is staying true to her beliefs and has imposed a somewhat unusual ban.
She has unsurprisingly been keeping details of her big day which will take place on October 12 under wraps but in an interview with Vogue revealed there’s one rule she’s imposing.
A big advocate for sustainability, Eugenie has banned the use of all plastic from her big day.

The 28-year-old revealed that she has become the ambassador of a new project aiming to reduce plastic in our oceans – and posed alongside a giant incarnation of a whale made up of single-use plastic.

Her post reads:

“Together we inspire people to make sustainable choices to stop the ocean drowning in plastic #plasticfree.”

In the same interview, Eugenie also revealed one detail about her wedding dress – it is being designed by a British brand.
Eugenie told Vogue: “I’m not telling anyone who is making it, but I can say it is a British-based designer. [The dress] is the one thing that I was really decisive about. As soon as we announced the wedding, I knew the designer, and the look, straight away. I never thought I’d be the one who knew exactly what I like, but I’ve been pretty on top of it.”

The Princess is a fan of Canadian and Turkish designer Erdem Moralioglu but other names believed to be in the running include Vivienne Westwood, who designed her ensemble for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Ralph & Russo, who designed the Duchess of Sussex’s gown for her engagement photos.

Whichever designer Princess Eugenie the royal wedding promises to be a A-list event. Her close friends include singer Ellie Goulding and Cara Delevingne, who are expected to attend. Meanwhile, Brooksbank is the UK ambassador for Casamigos Tequila, a liquor brand co-founded by George Clooney – meaning that the Clooneys may well be attending a royal wedding for the second time this year.
