Our latest couple to share their wedding with us met six years ago when they were working together at Hillsborough Leisure centre.
And after their love blossomed a trip to Turkey in 2017 gave the perfect opportunity for Gareth to get down on one knee and propose to Emma at their favourite restaurant surrounded by her family. Good job she said ‘yes’!

Here’s what Gareth had to say about their wedding planning and big day:

The Venue

We have both always wanted a church wedding, the beautiful views and church are what swayed our decision to pick St Nicholas Church, Bradfield. Emma’s cousin got married at Cubley Hall around 15 years ago and she has wanted to celebrate her wedding there ever since! The barn at Cubley Hall is beautiful and somewhere we have often visited to celebrate birthdays and special occasions.

The Planning

We thoroughly enjoyed planning our special day, and made sure we started booking and organising things well in advance so the run up to the wedding wasn’t too stressful. We had help from close family and Emma’s bridesmaid to make sure everything ran smoothly.
We didn’t hire a wedding planner, Emma enjoyed planning it herself. We didn’t ask one supplier to decorate our venue, we ordered services from different suppliers in order to get exactly the look we were going for. Emma also made the centrepieces and other things herself.

The Bridal look
Emma said: “I wanted something traditional enough for a typical English church wedding, but something that would also look nice during our evening reception later on! I always wanted a long veil and train on the dress, and a huge bridal bouquet that was loosely tied. I love anything sparkly too so there had to be some sparkle somewhere.

On the day

I felt surprisingly calm, no butterflies, just very excited. I couldn’t wait to see Gaz and enjoy the day we had been looking forward to and planning for so long. We had a fairly quiet morning, just me, my mum dad and brother, and Kate, my best friend and maid of honour.
We had hair and make up artists come to the house and a fairly leisurely morning getting ready.
Our ceremony was 1pm. We had around 110 guests in church, and around 170 in the evening come to help us celebrate.

Our day was perfect. The day exceeded all our expectations and was everything we had ever imagined, plus more!! Truly the happiest day of our lives and we felt so lucky to share it with such wonderful family and friends.

Words of Wisdom

Don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy every second. It passes with the blink of an eye!
