Susie and Jack met in 2008 and went on a few dates but nothing ever came of it!
Fours years later Jack messaged Susie on Facebook, they went on a date and hit it off! But she had already booked to go travelling for a year to Australia!
After six months in Oz she decided home was where her heart was and choose to surprise Jack on Xmas eve where he was at a local pub with his friends and I returned home for good!
Here she shares her wedding planning journey:
Oh my days, I literally fell in love with Eden at Broughton Hall… we had looked at over 6 different venues but after visiting Eden, we knew that this was the one! Being an event planner I wanted the freedom to create a bespoke event with an abundance of our chosen suppliers… Broughton Hall let us do just that! We had free reign of the venue for the full week and the scope to do whatever we wanted! This for us was the ideal situation!!
When and where did you get married?
We got married at Eden @ Broughton Hall on Saturday 20th July 2019
How did you find planning your big day?
A dream!! I absolutley love planning events, so planning, organising and being creative was just the most fun ever! I loved searching suppliers for styles that I loved, scouring Pinterest/ Instagram for inspiration & bringing it altogether.I don’t think wedding planning should be a stressful event, after all you are creating a day tailored to you and your partner and everything should be chosen because you love it, want it to be a part of your day and represents your lives!
Did you use a wedding planner or any other styling services?
No, this was my opportunity to run away with styling ideas & do whatever I pleased, for us, the main aspect of the day was creating a warm, social and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere which brought the outside nature inside so the marquee was the biggest tick in my box!
How did you find choosing your wedding dress?
Being 5ft it was slightly challenging as most dresses were pretty long! I didn’t find it stressful or overwhelming because I have never had the chance to try on so many amazing dresses before so for me this was me reliving being a little girl again trying on princess fairy-tale dresses!
Tell me a bit about your inspiration for your bridal look?
I wanted a dress which was fun, romantic and a little twist of boho. I wanted a dress which suited my shape and more importantly that I could eat and drink in which was comfortable, it also had to be swishy, which is why I chose tulle! My hair I wanted a tousled, low wavy up do which looked textured & I fell in love with a flower artist who made the wire comb
How did you feel on the morning of your wedding, did you have quite a gathering while you were getting ready or just your bridesmaids etc
I had my bridesmaids and my mum, the morning was really chilled and relaxed… we popped the fizz, watched the Ushers tackling hay bales in their suits & welcoming guests, which is excitement set in! We had a motownplaylist on with some added songs which my dad loves!
What time was your ceremony? How many guests did you have?
1pm with 102 guests!
How would you sum up your wedding day?
Social, joyous, happy, romantic & a lot of laughter. My highlight apart from getting married was walking down the aisle with my dad and then seeing my mums face when we walked in!
What advice would you give other brides planning their special day?
Don’t stress the small stuff – it doesn’t matter! Make your day about you two and don’t let other people sway your decisions or ideas because it is all about you! Don’t drink the night before so you wake up with a clear head and fresh faced! Finally, if you are overwhelmed by planning a wedding, invest in a wedding planner it will take the anxiety and stress away from your wedding journey!
